Preparing Graduates: Engaging Minds, Developing Character
At Shafer Middle School, we strive to provide students with a quality 21st Century education. We understand that we are educating tomorrow’s leaders and we take that challenge seriously!
Shafer has developed a reputation of excellence over the last decade due to the hard work of our teachers and support staff who provide hands-on and differentiated instruction to our students. The latest technologies (such as document cameras, multi-media presentation applications, and online math and reading tools) are used in teacher-directed and student-centered instruction. Teachers use a variety of instructional methods (hands-on learning, problem-based learning, manipulatives, cooperative and collaborative learning) to engage and prepare students.
What does all of this mean?
In addition to their core classes, our students enjoy a variety of related arts classes. They have access to a literacy-rich campus, which includes a large assortment of books and computers for both research and leisure reading in our library and computer labs. Students also have access to our two caring and supportive school counselors.
In a nutshell:
Shafer Middle School thrives in an environment of academic excellence! We prepare students to meet and exceed their future opportunities and challenges. We recognize each student’s worth and develop life-long learners who make positive contributions to our changing society.
